memories.of.the.nearby:future deals with the different stages of alienation through cultural assimilation.

This very personal work was also my diploma thesis at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, supervised by Prof. Dr. Isabell Lorey, Prof. Prof. Hans W. Koch and Karin Lingnau.

The multi-channel installation reacts interactively to the recipients, who were able to walk freely through the space of the St. Gertrud Church in Cologne. The tracking data of the Kinect Azure sensor influenced the various parameters of the sound synthesis of a eurorack synthesizer on the sonic level, and at the same time spatially changed the mixing ratios of the 4:4:2-channel loudspeaker arrangement.

The resulting spatial sound was in turn picked up via an ambisonic microphone, transforming a volumetric 2-channel video projection audioreactively portraying people of diverse identities into a meta-identity without gender, ethnicity, or age.
